Torgesen Murdock loves figurative work and meets with a professional group for model sessions every week where they draw or paint. Her travels have lead her to collect hats and costumes which make model work even more fun. Her studio is overflowing with fabulous colorful still life objects can be used to add even more excitement to the figure. The figure is a most challenging subject. A changing kaleidoscope of cones and columns, it has motion and mood and a three dimensionality which creates complex shadows and values. It is truly heaven as the costumed model takes his or her place under the lights. A slight move of the head or hand makes the adrenaline rush and the race is on to capture the gesture and mood. Nothing compares. Direction of the stroke and the cool against warm create an image not easy to be forgotten.
